Meditation Therapy

Meditation Therapy is “a method of relaxation and consciousness expansion by focusing on a mantra or a keyword, sound, or image while eliminating outside stimuli from one’s awareness.”(Mosby’s Medical, Nursing, and Allied Health Dictionary, 4th ed.)

Hi there!

Thanks for stopping by. This post is designed to let you know how we incorporate meditation into the counseling experience.

At Blissed Being, meditation therapy is an integration of cognitive-behavioral therapy with relaxation exercises and meditation techniques. Although not directly practiced during the counseling sessions, the therapist will incorporate additional Complementary and Alternative Medicines (CAM) such as yoga, physical activity, or bodywork in the treatment plan because meditation therapy is integrative.

If you are a newcomer to the world of meditation, you’re probably wondering, “What is it, and what can I do with it?” There are hundreds of meditation styles. Meditation is medicinal for your mental health and promotes the centering and grounding of your mind and body.

Our minds are filled with the clutter of work, media, and social interactions. Meditation is the formula for slowing down the monkey mind and bring yourself back to your center. It may not seem easy at first. You’ll notice the tug-of-war that infiltrates your mind during the process, but don’t give up. You are reprogramming your mind to find calm and activate your core being when you meditate. With practice, you can tap within at any given moment.

There are two basic categories that all forms of meditation can be identified, guided and self-guided meditation. Here, we are focusing on The Chakra System, Mindfulness Meditation, and Self-Reflection Meditation.
